'RV Tarka'

 

RV Tarka is a mono-hulled vessel of heavy aluminium construction. She is 11m long and 4m wide with a large aft deck area fitted with all the deck machinery and electronic equipment needed for research and oceanography lifting and setting moorings, towing and many other commercial operations.

MACHINERY AND DECK EQUIPMENT
Main Engines 2 x 200hp Volvo Penta six-cylinder diesel giving a cruise speed of  17 knots
Generator 1 x 6kva 240V powered by a 15hp Yanmar silent pack
Power Sources 12V, 24V, 48V and 240V power supplies - all from a Powersine DC-AC inverter
Deck Equipment
  • An hydraulic piston pump drives the deck machinery
  • 1 x deck winch with 1000m wire cable plus windlass and chain grab
  • 1 x A-frame with reach from centre deck to over stern - 750kg lift
  • spare connectors for additional hydraulic equipment
  • engine steering station at winch controls
  • Large clear area on aft deck: 3.5m x 5m
  • Dive platform and ladder
  • Hydraulic facilities available for CTD winch
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
  • Radios - VHF, HF, 27meg marine and 27meg CB/PA
  • Atlas Deso 20 survey sounder with 33khz and 210khz transducers
  • 2 x Navico depth repeaters (one at winch controls)
  • 1 x Fuso water temperature and continuous readout LCD sounder
  • Sumlog VDO
  • Wind speed and direction unit
  • Furuno GPS
  • Furuno colour video plotter (GD-180)

RV TARKA is in 1C survey for up to 10 passengers to 30 miles to sea.

MV Sea Schmout

MV Sea Smout is a commercialy surveyed 6m utility vessel used as a support vessel and for mooring and diving operations. She has a davit for deployment and retrieval of scientific equipment and a towing post for salvage operations.
 

MV Wopit

MV Wopit is a fast utility support vessel with medium lifting capability for mooring and bouy installation as well as diving support. She is also capable of light towing operations.
